November 9 Update

Important Dates

Anti-Bullying Week

Each year we set aside a week where we focus on Anti-Bullying.  During the week of November 19 – 23 teachers and the school will be participating in many activities that help our students choose to be kind and caring.

Alberta’s provincial legislation defines bullying as: repeated and hostile or demeaning behaviours by an individual in the school community where the behaviour is intended to cause harm, fear or distress to one or more other individuals in the school community, including psychological harm or harm to an individual’s reputation. It can focus on: disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion or other issues.

At DCE we choose to focus on friendliness, kindness, inclusivity, love, encouragement and caring.

School Council News

A huge THANK YOU to the hot lunch committee for getting hot lunch up and rolling before Christmas. It is no small task and we thank them so much for their amazing efforts.

We will be holding a by-election for the position of School Council Vice Chair soon as the position needs to be filled. If you are interested in hearing more about the position, please contact We will share the date of the by-election once it has been determined.

Sherwood Heights Junior High School (one of our designated schools) is on the replacement list due to its aging condition. Please consider contacting MLA's Estefania Cortes-Vargas and Annie McKitrick to encourage the Minister of Education that this replacement needs to be done sooner rather than later.
