We have one week left for our fundraiser so keep up the amazing job Mustang’s and remember to continue your healthy habits! Our event day is scheduled for Friday, February 26th so please remember to wear red. Thank you for your continued support!
February is Black History Month, a chance to recognize and celebrate the influence and achievements made by Black Canadians and their communities. The theme for this year is “The Future is Now”. Check out this link on noteworthy historical Black Canadian figures. This successful rancher, John Ware, was born in the United States in the mid-1850s but settled in Brooks and Calgary, Alberta where he became a legend for his horsemanship and courage.
February 24th is Pink Shirt Day. In 2007, Pink Shirt day began after a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Each year on this day, all are encouraged to wear pink and stand up against bullying. For more support on bullying, helplines and resources in Alberta, check this out. Let’s all spread kindness and wear pink to show our support. (Note: Due to the pandemic, “Mustangs choose Kind” shirts will not be available for sale this year. However, any pink shirt is welcomed and encouraged!)
