Cooler Weather in the Mornings

Just a reminder that students are outside until 8:32 am if the weather is warmer than -22 degrees. If it is -22 or colder, including the wind chill, we will bring children in starting at 8:25 am.  Please do not send your child earlier as there is no supervision before that time.

It is the time of year where we all need to bundle up!

Wellness Committee

Our "Parent Book Review" page is up and running! Please send any suggestions to either Melissa at chairdce@gmail.com or dcewellness@gmail.com. This is a way for families to share their favourite books with each other. If your child has a favourite book or series that they love please send your recommendation with the following:

- Book Title and Author

- Genre of Book

- Approximate Age Level

- Optional: What your child or family liked about this book?

Active School Travel (AST)

It's been wonderful to see so many students and families traveling actively to school! We have had approximately 60% of students travel to school actively or participate in walking a lap around the school after coming off the bus on our Walk or Wheel Wednesdays. Walking to school is another opportunity for children to be with their friends during a time when we don't have after school activities. We can be grateful that the weather has been so nice and although the weather is said to get colder, that doesn't mean that we still can't walk to school or perhaps get dropped off a few blocks away. Dressing warmly is the key! With most of our children's activities still on hold, having them get in a few extra steps on the way to school is a great way to get in some exercise. Check this out for more information on Ontario's Active School Travel website.

Complete the Returning Student Registration: February 1-28

Elk Island Public Schools’ (EIPS) returning student registration process is now open. All returning students must complete the online Returning Student Registration Form to confirm their child’s enrolment in a school for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. Additionally, students who want to attend a non-designated school need to make that request through the returning student registration process—acceptance is based on available space. All returning EIPS students are required to complete the form by Feb. 28, 2021.

Access to the Returning Student Registration Form is provided through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you don’t have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you need to set one up.
