June 12 Update

Happy 2nd Last Friday of the School Year!

Here's this week's SGN!

Well, we are on the home stretch!  Although this has been a difficult end to the school year, we are looking forward to and planning for September.  It is my hope that will be back in school as we really miss the kids and teaching in a classroom! Google Classroom was a great tool to use the past few months, but it doesn't replace seeing each other face to face.

If you have library books at home, please return them by June 19.  We would like to process them so they are ready to go in the fall. It will be interesting, if we are in school, how the library will function to keep everyone safe.  We have some ideas but there is still a lot to figure out.

Teachers are looking forward to seeing your kids during the last week of June.  Again, here is the schedule of when you can drive by (we'll be in the drop off zone) to say goodbye for the summer.  Please stay in your vehicles to ensure the safety of all.  Please refrain from walking or riding your bikes as this makes it difficult to maintain social distancing.

Next week we will be sending a link to book a time for our grade 6s to come into the school to say goodbye to their teachers.  We are hoping to make this as special as we can during these interesting times.  Students will be entering one gym door and exiting through another. There will be opportunities to take a picture of your child, so bring a phone or camera!

Davidson Creek has once again partnered with the United Way for the 2020-21 Tools for School campaign. Annually, Tools for School provides backpacks and school supplies to students in kindergarten through Grade 12 whose families have limited resources. If you’re a parent or know a parent who needs access to the program, contact our school directly. We’ll discretely provide the backpack to your child at the beginning of the 2020-21 school year.

Alternatively, if you’d like to donate to the program, you can pick up a few extra supplies when you’re out shopping for back to school. Drop-off boxes are located at various businesses in the community during the summer months—including Staples and EIPS Central Services office. All supplies donated within our community are invested back into our region.

For more information about Tools for School, contact Becky or Christa at the school or call the EIPS Central Services at 780-464-3477.

Kind regards,

Kaye
