It has been a great start to the new school year! We are looking forward to a new school year where many things are back to normal, but with wearing a mask! Our first event is welcoming you back into the school for Meet the Teacher on September 9. If your last name begins with A-M, please come between 6:00-6:30, and if your last name begins with N-Z please come between 6:30 -7:00. Make sure you have your mask on when you enter the school.
The staff have taken a personality quiz based on Meyer Briggs to find out what superhero they are most like. Take a look at their doors to see which superhero is teaching your child.
All updates emailed to you can also be found on our home page at www.davidsoncreekelementary.ca.
On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 6:30 pm, there will be a meeting to establish a school council. School Council is a vital part of Davidson Creek Elementary and consists of groups of parents, principals, teachers, and community representatives who work together to effectively support and enhance student learning. They provide a means for members of the school community to consult with and provide advice to the principal.
School Council is a critical part of DCE and we welcome all parents to be involved.
Following this meeting will be our Fundraising Society Meeting on the same link.
Please see our school calendar for upcoming events.
Teachers are at the doors at 8:32 in the morning. There is no playground supervision in the morning. Please have your child arrive on time so they can line up with their classes.
The first Wednesday of the month is an early dismissal, with September being the exemption, which is on September 8. Students are dismissed one hour early to accommodate our Staff Meeting.
Noon Hour Supervisors Needed
We are in dire need of noon-hour supervisors. There are 2 full-time positions and 2 part-time positions that need to be filled. Please contact the office at (780)467-5557 if you are able to help. Thank you!
Pay School Fees Online!
School fee information for the 2021-22 school year is expected to be posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal by late September. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay online using Visa, MasterCard or debit card—when available from your financial institution.
Don’t forget to log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of certain school activities such as field trips, class projects, athletic-team fees and more. Additionally, junior high and senior high fees can change as courses are added and deleted.
If circumstances exist where you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The application deadline is Dec. 15, 2021.
For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines visit eips.ca/schools/fees. Alternatively, contact Christa Gawron, Business Manager at Davidson Creek at 780-467-5557.
Update Your PowerSchool Information
The "Correction and Verification Form" is now available online through your PowerSchool Parent Portal. Families can use the form to access and update their child’s information—including address, parent and guardian information, emergency contacts and any medical information. Reviewing the form and submitting updates ensures the school has the most up-to-date information regarding your child.
If you’ve recently moved, now is the time to ensure the Division has your updated address information. In particular, please also pay close attention to all phone numbers, email addresses and emergency contact information. The Division will undoubtedly continue to have important information to communicate with families throughout this school year, and we want to ensure you receive this information. If you haven't already done so, we ask all Davidson Creek families to review their child’s PowerSchool information by Sept. 22, 2021.
For more information about the PowerSchool Correction and Verification Form, contact the school office at (780)467-5557.
Video surveillance on Buses
Did you know each EIPS bus is equipped with video surveillance? Video surveillance and equipment helps:
· ensure the safety of all students, drivers and property; and
· discourage destructive acts.
On a regular basis, EIPS Student Transportation reviews the video recordings, in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP Act). The recordings assist the department with monitoring student and driver conduct and may be used as evidence in a disciplinary matter.
For more information about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, contact the EIPS FOIP Co-ordinator at 780-464-3477.
