Moosehide Campaign at DCE

What is Moosehide Campaign?
This week is Moosehide Campaign, an Indigenous-led grassroots movement. Our school will be using Early Years lessons from the Moosehide Campaign website to teach students that they are able to show kindness to others, the environment and themselves to make our homes, communities and country a safe place for everyone. Students will receive a small square of synthetic moosehide as reminder that they can act with kindness, respect and love to create a safe environment for everyone.
On May 15th, participating classes will walk around the school yard to celebrate that we have the power to keep each other safe by being kind and respectful to each other.
*As adults, the Moosehide Campaign focus is to end gender-based violence. We will not be talking about violence or gender-based violence; rather, we will keep our lessons about safety and kindness for our elementary level students.
If your child comes home to talk about Moosehide Campaign, you can ask them about the power they have within to make others, ourselves and the environment safe through kindness, respect and love.
Please contact Mandy Kellough if you have any questions.
